Who said wallpaper is for Grandma’s?

When I tell people how much I adore wallpaper people seem to get uneasy. Yes when you first think of it you think ugly country wallpaper or even worse what your grandmother had in her powder room. There are so many companies who are changing the face of wallcoverings. My favorites are definitely French American and Cole & Son.

French American paper was started by an American interior designer, Patrick Ediger and a French graphic Designer, Romain Bouticourt. Their designs take on design concepts from the past but with an added twist! They have papers for the most modern fan, check out the “Rialto Grille” and for more of an elegant bold statement check out “Dragoon” — FA’s wallpapers are incredible! They use fantastic colors and amazing design. This will definitely make your home a statement! Check out their brilliant “Marie” pillows hand drawn by Patrick himself!

Cole & Son was founded in 1873 by John Perry, a son of a Cambridgeshire vicar, the company was called John Perry Ltd and was originally situated in a wallpaper mill in Islington, North London. John Perry created a process to imitate silk! Real silk is way too expensive to use on walls so he used mica! Cole & Son’s collection of wallpapers include styles from the 18th, 18th and early 20th century. They are now the prime source for entirely authentic period wallpapers printed by the original method and has made wallpapers for many historical homes including Buckingham Palace! Like FA the colors and the amazing talent put into these papers make them a piece of art! Cole and Son have a wide range of papers from contemporary to traditional (with that sassy kick of course!). If you are a fan Fornasetti you have to check out Cole & Son’s extensive collection. My favorite is definitely the “Malachite” and “Ex Libris.”
