Anything But Business Casual

While fashion in tech usually takes the form of a startup tee and a hoodie, as more and more women take Silicon Valley by storm we’re seeing the sartorial spin on tech evolve.     I work for a start-up rooted in retail which means I do my best to look like I have a look.   But between juggling working out, a social life, start-up problems and start-up hours, it’s hard to keep the prerogative of looking fierce from falling flat.   While I still occasionally dig out the ol’ leopard print harem pants paired with 6 inch platforms, I’ve found some day-to-day pieces that keep me feeling good and looking good with little effort.   This selection of favorites reflects the ABC’s of the Startuplandia dress code (Anything but Business Casual).
First Look: The Spiritual Gangster

Top by Spiritual Gangster
Wrap by American Apparel
Pants by Lululemon
Boots by Cole Haan

These colored leggings by Lululemon are incredibly flattering, comfortable and on-trend.   Pair it with grey tones on top and finish it with equestrian style boots for a look that says boho chic, hold the patchouli.

Second Look: The Fit Fashionista

Top by BB Dakota
Bottoms by Beyond Yoga
Jacket by BB Dakota
Boots by Steve Madden

Mixing patterns is a huge trend this season and also the perfect distraction from any spandex you may or may not be wearing (guilty).   The BB Dakota jacket plays up the burgundy color of the pants and an edgy Steve Madden boot finishes off this fit fashionista look.   It’s easy to wear, easy to put together and makes the most out of each piece.   Call me a hippie, but I feel like I’m getting away with murder every time I can incorporate yoga pants into a fully functional day-look.

Take the stress out of getting dressed.   Invest in comfortable and functional pieces that support your on-the-go lifestyle and reputation as a style maven.   I won’t tell your secret.
