Fashion: The Worst Of 2012

As the year is drawing to a close, it's time to look back on the best and worst fashion trends of 2012.

As with most trends, most of these started out promising and now they have been overdone to the point of no return.

1. Open-Toe Boots
I can't seem to make sense of these things. I know that when it's warm out we're supposed to wear sandals and when it's cold we're supposed to wear boots. So when exactly are we supposed to wear open-toe boots? My answer is never. If you already bought them, get rid of them. If you were thinking about getting them, don't.

2. High-Waisted Shorts
It seems that the fashion trends from music festivals have started trickling into everyday style and I can't say I'm too pleased with this. Case in point: high-waisted shorts. I can't think of a more unflattering silhouette for legs or stomachs. Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for denim cut-offs but if yours look anything like the ones shown below, please repurpose them as a dust rag.

Perhaps the most frustrating phrase from 2012 has made it's way to clothing and it must be stopped. Erase YOLO from your vocabulary and please make sure it never winds up on your clothes or accessories (please no tattoos!)

4. Bandage Dresses

The Herve Leger bandage certainly wasn't a 2012-specific trend but lets make 2012 the last year these dresses were stylish. In 2013 I'd love to see women leave a little more to the imagination. The dresses seem to get smaller and smaller especially as they get knocked off at stores like Forever 21. You'll be amazed at how freeing it will feel to wear normal dresses again.

We have officially entered neon overload. When the trend first emerged I loved the idea of spicing up an otherwise dull outfit with a hit of neon, but I fear we've gone too far and the only thing we can do is just stop.
