The Biggest Trends at the Academy Awards

Ruffles and sequins, and jewels, oh my!

It was all in the details at the 85th Academy Awards.   The stand out trends of the night were   embellishment/shine, ruffles, and classic Hollywood (and lets not forget about the men and their beards!)
Sequins and shine were everywhere! Some people got it right and some went a little overboard
Naomi Watts Dazzled in an asymmetrical shoulder Armani Prive gown.   If anyone got this trend right it was Naomi.   It's easy to look dated in an all-sequined gown, but the shoulder details on her Armani gown set her apart from the pack
In one my of my favorite looks from the night, Kerry Washington took an understated approach to shine in a strapless coral Miu Miu gown.   the color was magnificent and there was just enough sparkle.   (Also take note of the bow detail at her waist.   This is going to be a big trend)
Jessica Chastain wowed in this Armani Prive gown that worked perfectly with her porcelain skin and loose waves of red hair.
So many of last night's dresses had soft to extreme ruffle detail and I loved them all
Jennifer Garner should have taken all her pictures from behind because that's where all the magic was   on her Plum Gucci gown.   This color is very on trend and the ruffle details were amazing!
Zoe Saldana never lets me down when it comes to fashion.   She takes such a fresh appraoch to clothes and always winds up looking much more current than anyone else on the red carpet.   This Alexis Mabille gown was simple, but special with beautiful ruffles in shades of grey at the hem.
Amy Adams chose a ruffled Oscar de la Renta confection in beautiful dove grey.   The ruffles on this princess-like gown can be too much so Adams kept the accessories simple and let the dress speak for itself
Old Hollywood made a huge appearance last night
Anne Hathaway looked every bit the part of Hollywood actress in her soft pink silk Prada gown.   She added a touch of sparkle to her back with a backwards necklace (look out for this trend as well)
It's hard to believe Reese Witherspoon just had a baby in this bold Louis Vuitton strapless number.   The soft curls added classic elegance to her two-tone ensemble.
Charlize Theron looked magnificent in white Dior couture with a peplum bodice (and while we're talking about her, how amazing does she look with short hair?)
