Infographic: Small Percentage Of Women In The Obituary Section

Thanks to Upworthy  and Mother Jones  this infographic brings to life a frustrating media trend; notable men are far more likely to get an obituary published than notable women.   I'm willing to accept that some of this might be generational. Among people over the age of, let's say, 70 - there were probably fewer women who were out working in the world and achieving. However, the article quotes Gloria Steinam disputing that fact. To paraphrase Ms. Steinam, she argues that we don't value the community work and activism (she cites Mothers Against Drunk Driving) that a lot of women have traditionally done and we tend to celebrate financial success, perhaps more than we should.
