Kellogg’s New Ad Supposedly Promotes Positive Body Image

Kellogg's has a new ad for Special K that encourages women to "shhhhut down fat talk" and think more positively about themselves. But is this marketing campaign all it's cracked up to be? On one hand, a major corporation is telling women not to hate their bodies--so that's a good thing. On the other hand, the company markets Special K as a "healthy," low-calorie food that helps you lose weight, playing on our collective insecurities. If Kellogg's really wants to address the problem of poor body image among women, why not target the corporations that profit off of arbitrary beauty standards?
